Back in the bygone era of the malevolent Trump 45 version, I remember meeting a liberal couple I knew in Fort Collins. Of course the conversation was on a collision course into politics.
“You know this won’t be like any Administration we’ve ever seen. Trump has no clue about right vs. wrong, the Constitution or the Rule of Law. This won’t end well. Trump will never cede power even if he obviously loses in 24.”
As I became more agitated and aggravated, I noticed the couple contemplating their glasses of beer while easing physical and mentally away from me. Maybe it was my Jack Nicholson “The Shining” look that scared them. But instead of shouting, “Here’s Johnny!” Mine was along the lines of “Here’s Donny!”
“So what do you think?” I asked them when my venting played out.
“We’ll probably drink a lot more in the coming years.”
I lost a lot of respect for them after this comment.
Later on in the pre-election fall of 2020, I found myself calling around to my ex-military friends. I pointedly asked them. “If there’s a coup, will the military hold or go in with Trump.”
The overall consensus was “Yes, the military will hold. They swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, not an individual.” They were correct, that time. However…
January 6th, 2021 will live in infamy to the now (minority) of Mericans who saw the event for what it was. A attempted chaotic violent coup orchestrated by the vilest human in the world. As two former Federal prosecutors called it, “a mob of rioters.” Truer words were never spoken. BTW those patriotic lawyers were fired over this sincere comment.
99.99% of all humans would have slunk away feeling shame and remorse. But “no conscience” Trump doubled down. Using a page from Joseph Goebbels “Big Lie” idea, Trump perfected the monologue of the “rigged and stolen election.” He probably uttered those lies in his sleep. (Melania slept elsewhere, maybe another man’s bedroom). His believers/followers bought into the bullshit. (Probably the same sorts who are on the lookout for the ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government) black ops helicopters, the Easter Bunny and Charlie Brown’s Great Pumpkin.)
In 2024, Trump 47 came back with a vengeance. He was so successful in spreading the manure 77,302,580 gullible and easily swayed Mericans were able to ignore January 6th, 2021, our Nation’s first and only coup attempt. Ain’t that special?
I lost a BIGLY amount of respect for 77,302,580 of my fellow Mericans who put this putsch putz back into power on November 5th, 2024.
Now as I’ve mentioned before, we’re in a fine mess.

Bottom line: I see a coup on the horizon. Why is that Jeffie?
A) Would you, as a homeowner undergo the chaos of a major construction project for just three year’s time in that residence? Not likely.
B) Trump suggesting to a captive audience of military leaders to use Merican cities as “training grounds” to battle in a “war from within.”
Here’s a short list of dictators who said the same thing, only in their own languages.
- Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union): He frequently used the chilling phrase "enemy of the people" (vrag naroda) to label out-of-favor artists, politicians, and perceived dissidents. This rhetoric led to mass arrests, executions, and forced labor in the gulags during the Great Purge. The phrase was so associated with his brutal regime that his successor, Nikita Khrushchev, later forbade its use.
- Mao Zedong (China): Similar to Stalin, Mao adopted and widely used the "enemy of the people" designation during his rule to target political adversaries and justify campaigns such as the Cultural Revolution.
- Adolf Hitler (Germany): While not using the exact phrase "enemy within," Nazi propaganda effectively used language that branded specific groups, particularly Jews, as an internal threat or "vermin" to the German state, thereby dehumanizing them and encouraging violence and the Holocaust.
- Benito Mussolini (Italy): The Fascist leader used similar language, notably in his 1927 Ascension Day speech, where he discussed implementing "prophylaxis" measures to defend the Italian state from the "nefarious influences" of leftists and other opponents.
C) The almost three fold increase in the ICE budget (Read: Trump’s personal paramilitary units) a dollar amount which is greater than all the state and local law enforcement agencies budgets
In Durango, masked ICE agents swooped in and arrested an asylum seeking 45 year old (with no prior criminal record) as he escorted his two children to school. Ages 12 and 15. All were handcuffed. This caused a major disturbance when locals tried to stop the Gestapo wannabes from removing all innocent victims to Texas. Which ICE eventually did after roughing up many Durango citizens. ICE later admitted the arrests were a case of “mistaken identity.” Yet all three are still in custody in the Lone Star state. Shameful and cruel.
Despite this, Trump claims (on “60 Minutes”) the ICE raids”haven’t gone far enough.”
Take serous notice! ICE is a paramilitary unit! Here’s why you need to put aside the rose colored glasses. Any amateur historian (like me) knows all good dictators control their very own royal bullies, sadists and misfits. IE: Mussolini’s Black Shirts, Hitler’s Gestapo, Hitler Youth League and SS, Stalin’s Cheka and NKVD and lastly Chairman Mao’s Red Guard.
Folks! If ICE raids can happen in the Polly-Anna sheltered small city of Durango, no one is really safe. Even you!
BTW. I’m sure those Good Ol’ Boys Oath Keepers, Three Percenters, Proud Boys and pardoned January 6th thugs will partake in the coup action too.
D) ICE detainees are now being shipped to far away places. Costa Rica, El Salvador, South Sudan, Eswatini and Guantanamo Bay. Trump is creating storage space for more than roofers, veggie and fruit pickers, landscapers and dishwashers. It’ll be US citizens when the coup trigger gets pulled. Out of sight, out of mind. So what if a few “enemies of the people” languish and perish.
E) Russel Vought and the rest of the socially inept screwballs who penned the 900 page “Project 2025” playbook weren’t thinking in terms of a mere four years. These White Hypo-Christian Nationalists were wheedling for a Forth Reich.
F) The questionable use of the National Guard in cities (mostly Blue) to supposedly quell crime. Lest we forget, the National Guards have been ordered to “create quick reaction forces” trained in civil unrest.”
G) Trump’s attacks on Universities, the media, museums and the First Amendment. Those who control the centers of learning, news distribution and free speech control its citizens. Amazing to think people were fired for using Charlie Kirk’s own words to bring reality to the idiocracy of making Shock Jock Kirk a Saint.
H) The New York Times recent chilling opinion piece entitled “Are We Losing Our Democracy?” In my opinion “YES!”
I) The total disregard for “norms.” Suspect a Venezuelan boat is carrying fentanyl? Blow it out of the water before checking its cargo.
Trump’s ignoring our High Courts in rulings, essentially flipping the bird to the judiciary. Where’s SCOTUS? Fuhgeddaboudit! It’s time to rename this once august institution for what it now is. The SCOTOMAGA.
This is an Administration which acts upon impunity. They just don’t care of any heinous consequences.
That’s an adequate amount of WARNINGS!
Here’s the timing of the coup.
If Trump and his suck up enablers think they will lose the House in the 2026 midterm election, the coup will be triggered. If not the coup will be closer to 2028 (unless you know who meets the Great Inevitable.)
I will surely miss Democracy while cussing the fuckers who caused this pox to happen.
